Travel to Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan immigration department introduced a new online travel permit system for short visits to Sri Lanka in January 2012. Travelers can now submit a request online without the need to visit an embassy in person. This system allows travelers to visit Sri Lanka for a short stay and is issued electronically.

The digital application process is very simple. Citizens from eligible countries are required to complete an online form to receive travel approval. It permits a stay of up to 30 days from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka and remains valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

There are three types of travel permits available:

• Transit
